Shining a light on L.E.D Light Therapy

Shining A Light On LED Light Therapy: Unpacking The Airyday Bright On LED Mask

Without a doubt, LED Light Therapy has become a staple in the treatment room, but in today's busy world, weekly visits to your facialist aren’t always feasible. When clients started asking about home LED masks they were seeing, I knew some of them had far too few bulbs and energy output to make much difference. So I made it my mission to find a high-quality version for my clients... allowing you to take a slice of this clinical luxury home, to use at a schedule that suits you.

In this blog, we'll delve into how LED Light Therapy works its wonders and why the at-home LED solution, the Bright On LED Mask by Airyday, is a must-have for anyone seeking to improve their skin in the comfort of their own home.

How does LED actually work?

LED (Light Emitting Diode) Light Therapy is a clinically proven, non-invasive skin treatment that kickstarts your skin's natural healing process. This innovative therapy uses varying wavelengths of light to trigger your skin's repair mechanism, assisting in treating acne, sun damage, ageing signs, dermatitis, eczema, and more. It's particularly known for its exceptional results in wound healing, collagen production, and overall skin rejuvenation.

Light emitted at different wavelengths does something remarkable: it reactivates the mitochondria, aka the power source, in your skin cells. These mitochondria are crucial for cell communication and function, but modern lifestyles can impair these functions, leading to increased inflammation, acne, accelerated ageing, and pigmentation. That's where LED comes in, turning back the clock on these issues.

When it comes to at-home LED devices, not all are made the same. It’s integral to invest in technology that is backed by results, research, and reliability. After all, if it’s not harnessing clinically proven wavelengths with enough output, it could be the difference between achieving exceptional results and applying glorified Christmas lights to your face. As festive as that sounds, we’re here for results, right?

I chose the Bright On LED Mask for my Skin Kind community because it is TGA-approved and utilises three of the most effective and well-researched wavelengths: Red, Blue, and Near-Infrared (NIR).

RED LIGHT

Red Light is all about rejuvenation. It penetrates the skin at a depth that can stimulate collagen production, essential for a youthful, plump appearance.

It enhances blood flow, bringing more oxygen and nutrients to the skin cells. This process speeds up repair and renewal, leaving skin vibrant and healthy. Red Light also reduces inflammation and redness, making it an excellent option for those with reactive skin conditions.

BLUE LIGHT

Blue Light is celebrated for its antibacterial properties. It targets acne-causing bacteria (P. acnes) on the skin's surface, making it a formidable foe against breakouts. Besides its bacteria-fighting prowess, Blue Light soothes the skin, reducing inflammation that often accompanies acne. It's a non-invasive way to manage acne, especially suited for sensitive skin that might react adversely to harsher treatments.

NEAR INFRARED LIGHT

Near-Infrared (NIR) is the deep diver. Its light penetrates deeper into the skin than any other colour in the LED spectrum, reaching the subcutaneous layer and muscle tissue. At these depths, NIR light repairs damaged cells, accelerates healing, and reduces inflammation. It’s also particularly effective in enhancing the skin's firmness and elasticity by stimulating the fibroblast cells to produce more collagen. It cannot be seen with the naked eye, so it may appear some of

With the Bright On LED Mask, these wavelengths don't just work in isolation. They can be combined to create three unique modes, tailored to maximise results in efficient, 10-minute hands-free treatments. Combinations include:

1. SKIN REJUVENATION AND ANTI-AGEING: Red & NIR (Near-Infrared): This LED light combination is associated with stimulating the formation of collagen and elastin, helping to reduce the signs of ageing. Red light helps promote collagen production, while NIR light penetrates deeper to enhance rejuvenation.

2 OILY, PROBLEMATIC OR HYPERSENSITIVE SKIN: Blue & Red: combines Blue and Red Light, addressing adult acne while kick-starting skin rejuvenation and healing. This combination can help soothe problematic skin. Blue light has antibacterial properties to promote a clearer complexion, while red light aids in soothing inflammation and signs of ageing (note you will see purple as the two lights together create a purple hue).

3. IMPROVING TONE & TEXTURE: Blue & NIR (Near-Infrared): This combination can help improve the overall tone and texture of the skin. Blue light promotes a clearer complexion, while NIR light can enhance the skin's texture and appearance.

HOW TO USE:

Its super easy.

1. Simply cleanse your skin thoroughly of any makeup or sunscreen (to allow the light to penetrate fully),

2. Apply mask for 10min at chosen setting.

3. Finish with chosen serum and moisturiser (I love Epicure Amino Acid Serum with growth factors to boost LED results)

HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU USE?

LED works cumulatively, meaning each session builds on the last, culminating in bigger results over time. What I love about this device is that you can enjoy its benefits multiple times a week. Regular use - 3-5 times a week for 10 minutes (every 2nd day is preferable) for at least 6 weeks can significantly amplify your results. After this you can use it 2-3 times per week for maintenance.

Imagine unwinding with your favourite podcast or relaxing before bed, all while your skin receives a rejuvenating LED treatment. It’s like having a personal facialist on your bedside table waiting for you.

WHO SHOULDN'T USE IT? LED should be avoided in those taking medication that makes them sensitive to light. As the device has not been tested on pregnant and breastfeeding women there may be unknown risks, so best to avoid at home devices. Otherwise LED is a very safe treatment.

LED Light Therapy is more than a skincare step; it's a commitment to your skin's health and radiance. Embrace this blend of technology and skincare, and let your skin bask in the glow!
